Lifematics Northern Nigeria Tour 3

We got to Kano and negotiated with a cab driver to take us to Hajia Hadiza’s school. After negotiation, we were directed to enter the next cab.

On the way, we spoke to the driver & discovered this man didn’t understand any form of English.
He responded ‘ba turanci’ at an attempt to communicate with him.

Chai!

What do we do?
How do we communicate with him?
We don’t know the way…
Hajia wasn’t picking her calls too…

Google translate came to our thoughts and we were able to communicate. Thanks to technology.

We had a great time in Kano, we took fura (Rufaidah yogurt must pay us for advert) almost every day. My colleague who hated any form of milk now loves fura hahaha.

Kano looks like Lagos. Our audience was a mix of several tribes unlike Kaduna.

Hajia Hadiza over fed us while Hajia Rakiya did all she could to ensure our comfort.

The training went well and everyone wanted us to come back to Kano. In fact, Hajia Hadiza wanted us to drop training materials in Kano.

Hajia Hadiza’s driver, Musa helped us explore more delicacies; kilishi & gurasa.

While in Abuja we visited a friend, Rose she mentioned that her sister wen wet to Maiduguri.

I went huh, isn’t that Borno? How can you all allow her? She laughed & said she’ll be fine.

That made me nurse a desire for Borno. Yes you read well, BORNO.

While thinking after we returned to Lagos, Temidayo Musa uploaded his WhatsApp status & talked about life in Borno (perfect coincidence).
I quickly messaged him and discovered he has being in Borno for months and he has some education projects there.
In the words of a colleague, that’s just perfect!

We started making plans to go to Borno State.
